A deserved win but we made hard work of it.
Wallace & Lopez in 4 Matias & Hutch. We started on the front foot, with Bannan's close range header saved by Lonegan and Bannan again shooting wide a few minutes later. We then took a deserved lead from Wallace's corner as Forestieri headed in. We continued to be in control, but when we reached the 20 minute mark we dropped off and gave Fulham more of the ball. Ream blazed over, Tunnicliffe shot just wide then Fulham equlaized, O Haras strike deflected past Westwood. Their goal got us playing again, Lopez header tipped over by Lonegan from Wallace's cross. From the corner, Lees headed in thru Lonegans legs. Another cross from Wallace and Nuhiu headed just over. 2-1 HT
Forestieri was replaced by Joao at HT (tight hamstring, but not serious). We didn't have to wait long for the Owls 3rd goal. Wallace's in-swinging free kick headed in by Turner. The game meandered for 15 mins with no real clear cut chances but we didn't look troubled then we started to drop off again and Fulham pulled a goal back, O'Hara's cross was headed in by Cairney. The next goal was always going to be key and both sides went after it - Bannan smashed into the side netting after skilfully evading O’Hara and the industrious Kieran Lee was a whisker away from going thru on Lonergan. Westwood then denied Burn, and despite 6 minutes of nervous injury time we saw it out. FT 3-2
Westwood 6 - No chance with either goal, not much else to do.
Hunt 7 - Got forward well as usual, plays a little narrow for my liking when defending.
Lees 8 - Defended well and got on the scoresheet
Turner 7 - Defended well for the majority and also scored.
Pudil 7 - Seemed to concentrate more on his defensive duties today and did well
Lopez 7 - Keeps it simple, worked hard too.
Lee 8 - Flourishing under Carlos, works his socks off.
Wallace 9 - Crossing of the highest order, 3 assists, does work well with Hunt.
Bannan 7 - Could have had a hat trick another day, another who works his socks off
Forestieri 7 - Always looking to find space and try to create something
Nuhiu 7 - Held ball up well, won some headers, didn't get much help from the ref.
Joao 6 - One for the future
Helan 5 - Not on long enough
So our 2nd win of the season, and despite the scoreline which flatters Fulham, a thoroughly deserved one. Apart from a couple of spells where we let Fulham back into the game, it was the best I have seen them play for quite a while. Not quite sure if we are good enough to mount a playoff push, if we had a goalscorer then maybe we could.
