We put him on to play with 10 men, and to get him on we took off the danger man in front of him, Ariyibi .... and he was set to play against the player who was causing a good player like Talbot some trouble. Talk about a baptism of fire ......
We did have an experienced, if much older and slower right back on the bench in Humphreys. Mostly I favour giving young players a game, but this one seemed a bit Soderberg to me - enough rope to hang himself. I'm glad Fitzwater got through it with some credit. It didn't impress me from a management point of view.
It was either take off Ariyibi or take off Gardner so when Talbot was sent off he took off Ariyibi put on Fitzwater and player a 4-4-1. Humphreys played RB against Wigan and apparently that wasn't great. Wonder what Soderberg is up to now? When Fitzwater came on in the first half he looked nervous and a bit skittish but in the second half his nerves seemed to have disappeared. Be interesting to see if Jake Beesley will get a run at RB this season or any youth players for that.
