I thought the substitution seemed triply hard on young Fitzwater. He's 17, never played a league game. We put him on to play with 10 men, and to get him on we took off the danger man in front of him, Ariyibi .... and he was set to play against the player who was causing a good player like Talbot some trouble. Talk about a baptism of fire ......
We did have an experienced, if much older and slower right back on the bench in Humphreys. Mostly I favour giving young players a game, but this one seemed a bit Soderberg to me - enough rope to hang himself. I'm glad Fitzwater got through it with some credit. It didn't impress me from a management point of view.
