We played 442 with Yacob and Fletcher in the middle quite a lot in the 2nd half of last season and it worked quite well.

I must agree, it is ok for TP to hold his hand up to his alleged error in playing Lambert and Saido together instead of flooding the midfield.... that wasn’t the problem. It wasn’t the number of midfielders but the poor quality and ineffectiveness of his starting line up.

We could have got away with four midfielders if one of them was Yacob breaking up the play. What I find most disturbing is TP has effectively given notice he will not play Lambert and Saido together again.

I feel we are in for another season of heartache with mindboggling tactical decisions and boring stalemate football.
