France thoroughly deserved to win yesterday. It was a wet windy afternoon in Moncton. My son in law and I got a good view of the game from behind the French goal (1st half), surrounded by a bunch of friendly French Canadians. England were playing with the wind at their backs but you'd never have known it. Most of the action was at the other end. Le Sommer scored from a great shot in the 29th minute. From that point on, France never looked like losing the lead. They played as a team, smoothly passing the ball around accurately, whereas the England players looked like a bunch of individuals with no game plan in mind. On the rare occasion that they were able to break out of midfield and attack, it was almost always a lone attacker with no support.
Second half was not as one sided, but England didn't threaten. Their best chance was close to the end of the game when they fired a shot across the goal, but nobody there to pop it in.
If they play like this, they won't go far.
It was good to see a live game though.

"God Save the King."
