Can't wait til McCoist comes out to tell us he'd have taken us up. It might be soon or it might be a few years down the line, but he will come out with it eventually.
The one thing that's really disappointed me from McCall in the Motherwell games is the predictability of his team. We didn't have a great variety of options, but we did have some. Walsh for example made a great impact when he came into the team, but he's been more or less bombed out in the playoffs. Instead we've gone for a predictable shape without natural wingers and did nothing as far as I could see tactically to offer any surprises to Motherwell. We even telegraphed the fact Boyd was going to be playing at least a day in advance, giving them ample time to prepare for our forward line up. I'm normally a big fan of stability and consistency in a side, but only when it provides results consistently, and McCall hasn't done that at any stage. Mixing things up more would have been far more advantageous to us in my opinion. The defence has, utterly predictably, failed us badly, but that's one thing I can't hold McCall accountable for. It's been shambolic all season and he's still got more or less the same personnel McCoist had. That has to be the first area targeted for new signings, although I'm sure I said the same thing a year ago and although McGregor has been an improvement the unit as a whole hasn't done any better.
