The guy was out of his depth. That was plain enough to see....and of course, if it had worked for him then we wouldn't have the benefit of Tony Pulis at the Albion....
Any Manager who doesn't have the backing of both his employers and the staff he/she is meant to organise, is bound to be out of his/her depth.
Many years ago, I had a handful of staff who went over my head (behind my back) to my own Manager.
It's not a pleasant experience and fortunately never happened again.
There is a posibility, of course, that Pepe 'lost' the backing of his employers once they realised the mistake they had made. After all, it was Pepe himself that allowed McDoughnut to run riot and consequently lost the players.
Jus sayin.
I gotta say I agree with Silver here. Pepe was such a passionate guy who wanted fast flowing high pressure football. Unfortunately to paraphrase Joey barton I think there were bad eggs in that dressing room who to be blunt either couldn't be arsed to do as he asked or simply couldn't if they tried. Add to that the language barrier (and god bless him for trying from day 1 to communicate with the press and us fans) he was on to a loser.
The added fact to all that is the club chased him and then let him down massively by not backing him in any request one iota. I think that was disgusting to be honest and still feel quite ashamed by it all.
Glad he's back where he's adored and doing well. I for one really liked him and was quite upset when he was moved on. He did what was asked of him, he kept us in the premier league and I for one am very grateful for that.
