The obvious ones are out of the way, so here's a lesser gem; March 2008, FA Cup quarter final against Bristol Rovers. Only the second time we'd played them since Twerton Park in 1991, so still a sore fixture amongst a lot of older fans. Mowbray tactics at their purest (including the defending; Rovers deserved more than the one goal they scored), Big Ish at his most promising, some classic Kevin Phillips efforts, and most of all, the feeling that we really could go all the way and win the cup. Sadly, the semi-final completely reversed my estimation of Portsmouth from 2005, and I've been glad to see them tumble ever since. This should have been our year.
