Some interesting comments from the Geordie nation on that article:

"Another Andy Carroll style deal, someone needs to kick that FCB out." (Presumably comparing losing Campbell to having sold Carroll in 2011.  For those who don't speak Geordie, "FCB" = Fat Cockney Bastard, i.e. Mike Ashley)

"Pardewed!" (Implication that Alan Pardew either held back Campbell's progress or just froze him out of the team)

"I remember watching him in under 17's in Ireland and he looked quality! Think we will regret this one getting away. West Brom aren't mugs so could be a great move for him. All the best fella."

"Proper coaching will help his chances of making it."

"Surprised at this - thought that he had a longer term contract at Newcastle. Just typical of our club at the moment."

Obviously have to crack a salt shaker over these because they hate their own club so much.
