Men - Czech Republic 4 Scotland 8, Kazakhstan 1 Ireland 9, England 10 Russia 5, Japan 3 Scotland 9.
In the first end of the whole competition, Scotland scored a 5 against the Czechs and Ireland scored a 4 against the Khazis (?). Spare a thought for the Turks who were beaten 1-20 by Norway, a veritable hammering. England were always in control in their game, building up a 7-0 lead in the first 5 ends. Scotland were also well ahead of Japan all the way in their second game.
Women - England 8 Slovakia 6, Japan 7 Scotland 3.
England were never behind in their game, but Scotland had a poor time of it in the middle section and were well beaten by Japan.
