In the 1st half of the season, when AI was struggling, most of this place was up-in-arms, because apparently Irvine could not get results from a 'top half squad' that was 'the best we have had in living memory' including players that have scored in the CL. (If I could be arsed, I would dig out the relevant threads)

Fast-forward a few months and, despite re-inforcements in Jan, we have an aged, dross and unbalanced squad of spineless no-hopers that arn't fit to wear the shirt.

I give up. I really do....

What reinforcements in Jan?

We signed McManaman and Fletcher.

Blanco, Dorrans, Samaras and Varela were all shown the door, while Mulumbu was out at the AFCON.

From what I can see, we're weaker.

Samaras and Varela IMO were 2 of our better players, players who actually had pedigree at a higher
level and could score in top competitions. No idea why they were released, Varela was our best
player when he played, including MOTM performance against Villa at home. Neither of these players were
replaced at all.

Pulis has come in and had some good results and some bad. But IMO, we've been let down badly by the
club. Rubbish signings for the past 2 years, many past their best or cheap options, and the one big
money is IMO, a Championship player. Some of our better players released for reasons that we can
only speculate about (attitude or wages), but IMO, this squad looks weaker than the first half of the
season. Varela alone was a dramatic improvement on anything we have now.
