3000 away following for North End's annual gentry day to honour all those who have left this world in the past 12 months, saw the yellows and Barnsley share the points in a good hard contest that ended up with the right result.
The Oakwell ground is one of those traditional football stadiums that I always enjoy going to, never lost there and today kept up that record. Three large stands plus the old main stand which has been there since 1543 just after Dickie Bird was born. First of all I saw something unique today two professional footballer's caught short during the pre match warm up, I'll not name them but is emptying your bladder in view of some football fans a sackable offence.
As for the game Barnsley started quickly hit a post and had a shot that hit the side netting whilst Garner forced Davis to pull off a first class save. Barnsley went close again before North End started to up the pace and it wasn't long before the visitors took the lead, neat work down the left hand side led to Garner firing home from close range. North End had chances notably Clarke but he failed to t the target when well place.
Barnsley were dominant in the second half as North End struggled to get into the game Stewart missed a sitter and a header went over the top from close range. North End were being exposed down the flanks and sure enough 11 minutes from time Iberhre headed home from close range after a good cross from Holgate. Thought the home side would press on for victory but North End finally and belatedly woke up and spent the last few minutes going for the winner, a Wright header was easily saved by Davis and with it went the two extra points.
No complaints about the result good point in my view.

Barnsley 1 Preston North End 1 Att 12000
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?
