Brad Potts edged closer to full fitness with a 60-minute cameo in Monday’s defeat at Wrexham but there are no new injury concerns coming into the clash with South Yorkshire outfit.
Lewis Dobbin has missed the last couple of games and could come back into contention whilst Andrija Vukčević and Robbie Brady remain sidelined.
Stefán Thórdarson remains a doubt after he too missed the trips to Stoke and Wrexham. Milutin Osmajić sat out North End’s visit to Stōk Cae Ras with a knock and it remains to be seen whether tomorrow’s game will come too soon for the Montenegrin striker to feature.
The Visitors
Wednesday’s campaign has certainly been a challenging one for them for many reasons and they are currently on a winless run of 17 games. With an 18-point deduction they currently sit bottom of the Championship on -7 points at the halfway point in the season.
Despite their troubles, they arrive at Deepdale on the back of two encouraging results and performances. After holding promotion-chasing Hull City to a draw at Hillsborough on Boxing Day they fought to a goalless home draw with Blackburn Rovers three days later.
Match Officials
Referee: Gavin Ward
Assistant Referees: James Wilson, Ian Hussin
Fourth Official: Ollie Yates
Gavin Ward will take charge of the clash with Sheffield Wednesday. The last North End fixture he officiated was the impressive 2-1 victory against newly-relegated Leicester City at Deepdale back in August.
