Exactly, but the 10,000+ fans, that are currently turning up to watch, love a scapegoat at Town and he's firmly in the crosshairs right now. There's at least one every season. I don't like having a go, I really like to (mistakenly) think they all are playing 2 divisions below where they (and we) should be, but 'ey up over 50 years and change of me not having a go has got us back into League One again.
The "official" gate based on Season Tickets sold might apparently be higher than my estimated gate on Saturday but I've been in that stadium since it opened, including a game or two every season when I lived over the pond. I've a reasonable idea of what an empty seat looks like.
Might explain why our Half-Season Cards, which cover 13 games of the 23 at home, are almost 1/3rd of the price of our Full Fat Season Cards too. A lot of Town fans voted with their credit/bank cards this season. Many that paid are obviously fed up with watching piss poor football in a piss poor division. Tried to tell 'em that said they'd rather we'd be winning in a division lower than struggling in a division higher. Would they listen? Short memories of how piss poor football is in this division, whether they foolishly try to play out from the back or not. Got what they asked for and they still don't turn up.
Honestly got to wonder why I stlll do the 220 mile round trip some days when many I know stopped hopping over The Ainleys a long time ago. Yesterday's 3-3 must go down as the worst 6 goal draw seen in football history. Wombles fans might disagree but there was sod all excitement, niggle or anything else that get's you off your seat to stand and cheer. Other than that the ref was crap too, but what's new about that in English football?
