I am very naive in all this but surely, as it is possible to prevent copyrighted pictures on the web being copied and used elsewhere the resposibility lies with those who need not have allowed their pictures to be used? If you post without protection surely you are tacitly agreeing to a picture being re-used?

If it came to a legal challenge how would anyone prove they had copyright over a picture that may have become featured on several other sites, being copied, altered and re-copied?

I have a feeling that if Stairs had limitless funds he could say see you in court and this small-minded challenge would melt away. How very joyless it is. I like posters' use of images on here, though I never even found out how to do it. (I'll check to see whether I won Euromillions!)

There's enough to worry about in the world without this ....... Poor old Stairs didn't deserve this!
