Oldham Athletic have signed experienced midfielder Ryan Woods and winger Jack Stevens.

Woods, 31, has joined on a two-year contract from Exeter City, while Stevens, 24, has also signed a two-year deal from National League side Solihull Moors.

Having made over 450 career appearances, Woods has played in the Championship for five different clubs.

But now he is ready to help Oldham on their return to the EFL.

"Oldham is a massive club with ambitious plans, and as soon as I heard those, I knew this was the right move for me," he said, external.

"I want to bring my experience to help the team push on now, and hopefully achieve something special this season."
Jack Stevens scored 14 goals in 28 games for Solihull Moors last season

Stevens joins the League Two Latics for an undisclosed fee having made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Moors last season, scoring 14 goals.

"I'm delighted to be here. This is a club I've always admired, and joining now presents a fantastic opportunity for me," he told the club website., external

"I believe this is the perfect next step in my career, moving up into the Football League at the right time."

Wigan Athletic midfielder Kai Payne has signed a season-long loan deal with Oldham Athletic.

Payne, 20, had a brief loan spell at Oldham last season in the National League, playing five games.

But now he returns to Boundary Park as they prepare for their first campaign back in the English Football League after a three-year exile.

Payne has played seven games for Wigan, but he is yet to make a league start for them.

"Kai is a young player with bags of potential - he gives us a different dynamic in midfield that we all saw when he was here last time," Oldham boss Micky Mellon told the club website.
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?
