Burton Albion head coach Gary Bowyer has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2027.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool boss' previous deal was due to expire next summer.

Bowyer led the Brewers to League One safety last season, having taken over in December when they were nine points adrift with only two wins from their opening 19 games.

"I'm incredibly proud to have signed a new two-year contract as head coach of Burton Albion," the 53-year-old told the club website., external

Bowyer previously managed Blackburn, Blackpool, Bradford City and Salford City before leading Dundee to promotion to the Scottish Premiership in 2023.

"We have all seen the impact that he has had on not just the squad but around the entire club," said Burton's sporting director, Richard Dorman.

"Signing a two-year deal represents a significant step in the stability and focus of the football department for the coming seasons."
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?
