We have a bit of a quandary on our hands dont we?
No one can truly say whether Jake Edwards is good at his job or not. All we know is he's close to this beswick group and a friend/former teammate of mark Cartwright. We also don't know if he is just some yes man either to the group or kev.
What we do have an idea of is that Cartwright is very much derided by town fans and has come across as incompetent. He's made two maybe three good signings amongst his plethora of incomings, although that being said, id say I could list quite a few that SHOULD be doing a lot better than what they've shown based on previous seasons. I could also list players that should never have been signed or at the very bare minimum I'd want to look at the information that persuaded town to sign them.
Now personally I think we should get a manager in asap and free worthy back to the academy, give the new man as many games as possible to work out who he wants around, if we went down a foreign route this would also be beneficial as they can learn a bit on the go without consequences.
If it was me, I'd be keeping chapman, Spencer, miller, rooskens, kasumu, iorpenda and taylor. I'd be open to keeping balker, nicholls, Pearson and hogg for experience and a bit of leadership but that is also something I'd be targeting in the transfer window anyway. That being said I wouldn't be against them leaving. With regards to hogg it would be more a senior role, less of a playing role.
Now the issue we have is we're lumbered with the likes of the gutless wiles, can you believe we sold Holmes to get him in, we're also stuck with ladapo, Healey and bojan as it stands on decent wages for little to no output.
The other big issue is, if we appointed a new manager now, then Cartwright would be at the forefront of that decision. If he was to leave then we'd have Edwards picking his successor with nagle having no real knowledge of English football. I can't see a situation where both Edwards and Cartwright leave as I don't see how we make the right appointments unless nagle is willing to approach someone like Hoyle.
Therein lies the problem, I don't see he would, but if Cartwright did leave, can we trust Edwards to find the right man based on CV and results, rather than potentially being told this guy is good by someone at beswicks? Now a lot of fans on twitter have suggested giving an open book to Webber and I wouldn't be against that but would kev listen to fans judgement on the matter?
Safe to say though that we need to act quickly, just to give the new manager every opportunity to assess and work out who he'd want to bring in himself. I would, write this season off, it's been a farce
