Absolutely. We listened sureptitiously as 5th formers in the 70's as he played album track after album track on his lunchtime show and called out bands like the Bay City Rollers for the invented bollocks that they always were.* The Beeb bosses didn't like him for it and pushed him out, but it wasn't long before he was back. Class always wins in the end and he was absolute class to the very end. That silky but slightly husky voice will be missed, big time. His Radio 2 Drive Time shows with Sally Traffic have never been equalled in my opinion.
