Well I was trying to recall when the last time was that we won the first three league games. I had in my mind that it must be 79/80. Luckily before I delved into the archive, ITV's commentary on the highlights show told me I was right. 
That third league victory gave us five in all comps, after we had won both legs in the first round of the League Cup against Crewe. So a victory at Walsall on Tuesday will equal that.
I think the club record for league wins at the start of a season is the 1924/25 season when we did four straight victories. One hundred years ago as we set off on retaining our league title.
