I think we had a good go and did as well as we could with the squad we have.
Unfortunately we're desperately lacking quality at the sharp end of the pitch and couldn't force the goal.
I had my rant about BTA after the Sunderland game and although it was harsh on a player who works hard, I just don't think he's a Championship player. Trampoline first touch, dwells on the ball too long when simple lay offs are staring him in the face and can't finish either. Unfortunately with Maja not even being named on the bench, I assume he's had a recurrence of his injury and his season is over.
With the lack of a forward threat, it felt like our best chance of scoring would be from a set play...
We came out of the blocks fast and forced plenty of early corners, but credit to Southampton, they defended the box as well as any side I've seen this season.
After our furious 10 minutes, when the game settled, it felt like the game could've gone either way with both goalkeepers making good saves. Southampton seemed to have more quality and control, but at the same time there was always a chance we might nick the ball when they overplayed at the back. But it wasn't to be.
Leaves us with a tough tie away, given our record.
I just hope we're able to recreate the Leicester performance, which is the one stand out performance away from home. I don't expect anything, but then again, sometimes that can work in your favour.
