When I played we were always told (if you were midfield or striker anyway) "head over the ball" when on a bad pitch, literally put your head over the ball as you kick it and it can't balloon up because your foot hits the top of the ball rather than underneath.
We seem to forget the basics at times.
Don'y let it bounce (Zayatte did this a few times on the edge of our box), head over ball (Nuhiu), put it out (you're under pressure, don't try anything fancy. Usually Maguire) amongst others. It's screamed at kids every sunday yet the select few who make it professional seem to forget this. Maybe we should get their dad's stood on the sidelines shouting it every so often
