If it ain't some kind of tax fiddle (it almost certainly is) how does a business "lose" £60m in a tax year while paying it's boss £270m including at least £50m from a £100m payout of "dividends"?

Exactly how much UK Tax did Ms. Coates of Bet365 fame pay on that lot? My guess is 3/4's of bugger all whilst her PAYE employees would have been taxed to the hilt.
"Bet365 collected roughly flat revenues of £3.4bn, while the business recorded a pre-tax loss of £60m in the year to March, including a £12.4m loss from its ownership of Stoke City football club. The group also made a £100m donation to The Denise Coates Foundation, a registered charity."
