That said, on my frequent visits to der/das Vaterland with a previous employer, I would regularly find the palms of my hands would go red and itchy at some point during the evening when copious volumes of lager were being consumed. Maybe it was the sauerkraut, but you didn't get that in Italian restaurants in Nordrhein Westfalia that often. Seriously, that's where we were taken for dinner more often than not. Why would a German eat German food when he's out for the evening?
