I'm happy with the loan signing of Sarmiento.
This is a player who was knocking on the door of a very decent Brighton team at 19 years old before injury halted his progress.
From what I've seen, he's fast, tricky and exciting to watch. And we need an attacking midfielder, after losing Grant and Rogic.
Of course, 14 games and 0 goals in the PL doesn't make great reading. But we need to remember that most of those 14 games were 5 and 10 minute cameos, as a youngster being introduced into senior football. He only started once last season and got an assist when Brighton beat Everton 4-1. He's also a full international in a very competitive Ecuador side.
His injury record is a bit of a concern, but let's face it, he would be in Brighton's first team picture if it wasn't for those injury setbacks. We have to take a risk in the position we're in.
We've been dreadful in the loan market since we were relegated, making desperation signings like Marc Albrighton. But this is an exciting deal IMO, similar to when we signed Barnes and Diangana.
Of course, we need more reinforcements. A striker is absolutely imperative. I'd also like to see a centre half and right back as a minimum.
But it's a good start and a player who will improve us if he can stay fit...
