We started on the slippery slope when we let Arsenal, the actual underdogs, beat us in two cup finals and the madcap (mis)management of Tricky Trev and the board replacing quality with numbers with fancy names
We then fell off the precipice nearly a quarter of a century ago and since then the ever decreasing circle has continued to tighten with the occasional blip of a promotion from division 3 and a nice day out at Wembley
I watched Men in Black the other night, noting the release date, and it reminded me of when/why I stopped going every week. It was getting raped at home by Blackburn on a shitty wet Satdi after spending well over 100 quid for tickets, food, petrol etc for an hour and half's 'entertainment' for the family and then going to watch a brilliant film on the way home for less than 20 quid
It's not going to happen in our lifetimes SS so just accept what we have become. Go shopping, boozing, ten-pin bowling or anything you like on a Satdi but ......
