I echo Salop's thoughts that football is all about opinions and there is no right or wrong...
Personally, I think Corberan is getting his selections right for the best part. Yes, we can have a knee jerk reaction to the last few games and start changing everything, but to be honest with the exception of the Blues game and Bristol City game in the cup (where Corberan did play some second string players, including Karlan Grant) we haven't actually been that bad. Even in the Blues game, both goals conceded were basic errors from the goalkeeper.
I think it's a bit early to write off Dike and the loanees...
Chalobah has played about 3 halves of football since he joined and we have to remember he hadn't played for a few months before joining, so will need time to get fit. The only real dreadful recent performance, against Blues, he didn't start. Mulumby started that one.
As for Albrighton, I said when we signed him that I had no idea where he would fit in and think it was just a case of getting someone who was available tbh. With Phillips injured, we just needed another bod and got whoever we could. He's a local lad, so was probably easy to get over the line.
Dike hasn't looked fit enough when starting games and has been disappointing, but we need to remember he's a big lad who has had some serious muscle injuries. At times from the bench, he's looked good though. Even on Monday, I thought he looked strong, won everything in the air, showed some nice touches. Against Sunderland he changed the game. We just need to keep easing him back in and hopefully he will keep getting fitter and start to show promise when starting games.
As for Grant, personally I'm chuffed he doesn't seem to be in Corberan's plans. I just think whenever he starts, he has a massive negative effect on the quality of our football.
He's started 4 games under Corberan and the results speak for themsleves...
Sheffield United - Lost 2-0
Blackpool - Won 1-0
Chesterfield - Drew 3-3
Bristol City - Lost 3-0
In the only game that we won when he started - against Blackpool - we scored after he was subbed off.
He started the majority of games under Bruce and we know how that went...
I do agree that TGH should be in the squad though. I'd prefer him over Reach any day of the week. That said, Corberan obviously doesn't think he's good enough and sadly, I'm not sure we've seen anything this season to suggest Corberan is wrong. I suspect he might be like many of our other young player who look promising when they breakthrough and sadly tail off. Hope I'm wrong, but I do get the vibe Carlos knows what he's doing by how much he's got out of this severely limited squad since he arrived.
