If Hogg had an actual fight with the new manager wouldn't a normal organisation simply sack him?
Does Hogg's popularity with the fans mean that can't possibly happen? That's not a good thing for any manager even though Fotheringham sounds well-fightable.
If Hogg with 4 goals in 287 games or something gets to play, how and where is that going to improve the team? You couldn't possibly pick him in front of Camara could you? He's a bit lightweight to play at the back except as part of a back three with two giant reliable colleagues, who you don't seem to have either? Nevertheless, I can see he might be a very good influence surrounded by young, up-and-coming lads. It's just that at football you have to score goals at one end and stop them at the other to win games, and it isn't easy to see how you do that before the transfer window. Rhodes looks the most likely to score, but he hasn't been prolific for quite a while. Defensively Helik is a brave blocker, your Japanese guy looks your best reader of the game, but unless your attack can give the defenders something to protect, they are likely to struggle till the window, aren't they?
If you are willing to spend a bit in the window there are several players in Division One and below who could improve your team without breaking the Chairman's piggy bank, but to recruit the right players your manager or someone needs to be on the ball, AND to get this current team to the window still in touch with your rivals he's got to be doing something right with a squad of limited capacity. Other teams are losing, but they may have more capacity to improve and possibly deeper pockets when the time comes. It's a very hard one for loyal fans, who've seen this coming but couldn't do anything about it.
