I wouldn't be surprised he hasn't ripped the club off for millions - No wonder he is not interested in selling.
Like all businesses from China when they buy something - they will suck it dry and then close or dump it when it's worthless.
He promised to pay back the £4.5 million loan he owed from when he purchased the club - that never was returned.
He's just a Liar - not to be trusted with the keys.
Sooner he is gone the better.
While I totally agree with your sentiments regarding our beloved chairman and I suspect a touch of justifiably anger in your comment, but to apply that that to "all business's from China", to be fair is simply wrong. Remember the guy that sold it to Lai, he did equally dodgy stuff, even borrowing the money to buy the club, from the club, then sold it without paying back a penny and he was from England. The board who also must have agreed this and they are not from China either, so you can't blame the Chinese, dodgy business is dodgy business, regardless of the nationality of the culprit. On a side note Chinese businesses have have over £143 billion invested in UK businesses.
I could have said our previous financial director resigned at exactly the same time as the loan was taken, Ron Gourlay knew about this and publically declared the accounts were late and NOTHING was untoward in the balance sheets. So in my book he has tried to cover up the underhandedness on behaif of our owners. So much for the people and other share holders who said Lai can't simply take funds out of the club. I'm convinced now the Chadli - Rondon - Hegazi and Pereira fees were Syphoned off.
As for Chinese business if they have invested £143 Billion how much have they taken. They don't operate fairly and that's all of them. IMO it's inbred into them to take what they can and consequence does not exist. They will smile, bow and bow until they're in a position to take everything. MG Rover was a great example. Pretending to be investing. All the time the awaited for liquidation and then purchased the mechanics for a couple of a million. Business is not business when it ruins lives at any cost.
Never forget they want what you've got and you won't be far wrong.
Ask the 1,000,000 + Hyghurs who are imprisoned in slave camps what they think of their Chinese brothers. My opinion matters not.
I wonder what Wingtech employees think of its new owners. A profitable business recently purchased by Chinese owners
Why did the Government stop them from setting up 5G networks in the UK. It's because they can't be trusted.
That's anyone involved in business. Did anyone believe Lai got his money by working for it. Nobody gets billions without being a thief that's for sure.
2020 the year the bubble burst
