Regarding Jackson at Charlton - there's likely good reasons why club legends shouldn't take on the managers job even if it seems a good idea at the time.
Even if they are a success for a season or two, ultimately the club loses (or more often than not fires) someone with the club name and DNA written through them like a stick of Bollackpool rock. The other reason is, the board expects them to work miracles as a result of their status at the club whilst the tight wads sit on their collective wallets.
