Good riddance! I'll bet my scathing letter to Hibs CEO (copied to Ron Gordon), sent early last week, was not the only one that he received and most Hibs fans that I know, incl family members, didn't have a good word to say about Maloney, but nothing against him personally, shouldn't have been appointed in the first place by Kensell (HE'D BETTER WATCH HIS BACK - IT WAS THE WRONG DECISION!!!!
) - Hibs version of Aberdeen's Stephen Glass IMO, both managers "talking a good game"!!! The "project" (is that word corporate speak????) failed, the match stats didn't lie!!! Ron Gordon more or less confirmed that in his formal statement. Also a lotta Hibs people forgetting the significance of Martin Boyle's absence, his transfer endorsed by Maloney, and the club's poor efforts to mitigate such massive damage to Hibs first team prospects - I rammed that fact down Kensell's throat in my letter and I know for a fact there are other shareholders who have gone through a similar critical exercise!! The thousands of Hibs fans who applauded the sterling efforts of the Hibs players at Hampden on Saturday didn't applaud Maloney at all. I personally hope Hibs make a quick move for Malky Mackay although that move could be unpopular with some people. Neil Lennon would be my next choice although again contentious to some people. The end goal is common to both of us and all Hibs fans - a buoyant and successful Hibs team that needs to be nurtured. There is a good nucleus of players in the current Hibs squad and we learnt a lot from the game at Hampden. This group needs to be strengthened and managed in the proper way with a style of playing that is comfortable for all the players. We are not too far away from having a really good team! Hopefully Hibs board and Ron Gordon will choose wisely this time and also have a rethink re the way they "go about their business". Ron Gordon had no choice to act as quickly as possible in the face of mounting criticism and he has done it!! So (Sir) David Gray in interim charge again - deja vu eh!! Lastly, isn't it amazing how opinions differ re issues like this one eh!! Anyway, the deed is done and I'm hoping for a new era, a really positive one where lessons have been learned and Hibs push on to a far higher status than the one we are currently in.
PS: I just received a text that read in this way - "Yasssssss, Maloney gone!! The CEO should go too". That says it all where many Hibs people have lost patience and had enough!!
