Too many people are overreacting over the result, yes it was bad but we need to look at the bigger picture, we have a few players who are injured or not properly match fit and Cook has come in mid-way through a season and is trying to play his style of 4-2-3-1 and the system doesn't seem to be working so he needs to either revert to the 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 or a new formation where we play more than one up top, something like a 4-3-3.

This dip in form was starting to happen around Xmas under Rowe and we only have to look at the amount of points we threw away under Rowe as we couldn't see out leads in games. I think it's something like 20 or 22pts we've thrown away while being in the lead this season which is quite a lot especially for a promotion chasing team.

Also when Cook has come into a team mid-way through a season you can see he tries to get teams playing his style of football with the 4-2-3-1 but with the high pressing and passing game and when he has had a whole season including pre-season he builds a squad of the type of players which suit his system.

Look at Dover they are already relegated and have nothing to play for yet somehow they seem to be talking the games to teams or managing to grind out results and points which shows when teams have nothing to play for with no stress or pressure on them they play better.

Stockport and Wrexham are way ahead of us because they've managed to bring in top quality players albeit on big money and we can't compete with them but next season it will be even tougher if we are in this league as the wage cap will be coming in and it will be tougher as teams like Southend will be busy in the summer hoping to gain promotion back to the Football League.
