March 3:
First of all, a happy birthday to our forgotten man, Reece Brown. He was born in Dudley on this date in 1996 and so is 26 today. He is now in his third loan spell at Peterborough from Town and came on as a sub the other night against Man City in the Cup. He came on in the 71st minute and I don't think I heard his name mentioned again. He really is Mr Anonymous.
In three season as a Huddersfield Town employee, he has played one first team game, a League Cup tie at home to Lincoln. And I had to look that up because I was there but I don't remember him at all.
He won't be allowed to play against us on Friday night, but if he does turn up, this is what he looks like..........
Now then. We have played Tottenham Hotspur three times on this day. The most recent one was at Wembley Stadium in 2018, when they were using it as a temporary home. Spurs won 2-0 with Son Heung-min getting them both.
The first of the three Spurs meetings on this date was back in 1926 at Leeds Road as we were closing in on our third consecutive League title. It was the mighty Town winning this one 2-1 with George Brown getting both of ours.
The middle one of the three though, played in 1928 was a right spanking. It was the quarter finals of the FA Cup in front of 52,390 people who crammed into our wonderful old ground and we won 6-1. The only consolation for the Spurs fans on the day was that they won the second half. Yes, we were 6-0 up at half time! We were 5-0 up after 19 minutes! That man George Brown was on target again. Four he scored in this one, with Billy Smith getting the others.
And so the next one will be the semi final. It's Sheffield United at Old Trafford on March the 24th. Bring it on!
