I was worried because we looked wide open against players of Chelsea's class, but that was what we wanted for them to play a proper side. Their front two cost ten times more than our owner couldn't get for our entire club when we were in the EFL.
The constant support the team received was inspiring, and the goal, well you would have thought it was an equaliser at least.
TV executives proved how little they understand about the magic of the cup. There were reasons to fancy possible upsets in three of the four ties involving non-league sides, and though ours was a shot at the moon, to nearly quote the Bette Davies film Now Voyager, "Why ask for the moon when we have the stars?"
That said, well as our players did I'd like to see us venture into the transfer market if we can, for now and to build for next season, Asare, maybe their centre back too, Matatsuzaka at Oxford City, I still like Kane Drummond at Warrington Ryland, Nikola Tavares at Wealdstone, think he's out injured, but he's the best player in our league, could somebody smart wave some quick cash at Bromley and grab Marcus Sablier, I like Louis Walsh who is struggling for a place at Southend-he's way better than that, a teenager called Josh Ajayi can't stop scoring for Ramsgate, Totton from the Southern just signed Pascal Kpohomouh who was England capped at U16 U17 and U18 and is only 20 now, must be worth keeping an eye on, maybe a sign and loan back for the season ....... I don't want them all, but this is a time for building on success and looking to the future when everyone else is looking to the present looks a good move to me.
