The name Barry Bridges springs to mind.
I was at that game and I thought Albion deserved it, but back then as a 14 year old I always wore my blue and white striped tinted glasses! Amazing to think we've never played them in the FA Cup in the 47 years since.

After the game I met up with my Blues mates in Town, and they claimed they were unlucky because they hit the post - that was ALL!
When I saw them a couple of days later they claimed they were ROBBED.
When I saw them the next week they claimed it was the most one-sided semi-final ever, and that Blues s/b at Wembley and not us.
I just laughed it off.
Tom Ross perpetuates the myth, and exaggerates it more every time he mentions the game. Last time I listened to the idiot he said Blues played us off the park! Next time he mentions it, I'm sure he'll say the FA considered a rematch because it was so one-sided, and the wrong team won!

I couldn't care less, but I just have to laugh - we robbed them of a bit of glory. (Don't forget they were 2nd Division at the time).
I just hope the atmosphere's the same tomorrow as on that sunny day - it really was electric. We had the open Witton End, and Blues had the covered Holt End, but we matched them vocally. Great day!
