Ah, Tony Millington!! The first keeper I saw at the Albion was Jock Wallace but the one i really remember from those years was Millington. I thought he was terrific
Yes Millington was fantastic in his first few games (remember seeing him against Untd) but, he suddenly lost confidence and conceded seven goals against Wolves, got dropped and then conceded another seven against Wolves reserves. Never to be seen again.
I suppose most of us old fogies will remember, for obvious reasons, with affection John Osbourne but IMHO the best keeper in that era subsequently was Tony Godden.
I think the two best keepers I've seen for us have been Osborne and Foster. I thought Godden was excellent and a brilliant shot stopper; I felt he was not great at coming for high balls but if you've got Wile and Robertson in front of you, why bother!
