Without playing well in some matches we are grinding out results. Townsend, excellent, Clarke very good, Livermore very good Grant great second half and great goal. Molumby an excellent 30 min cameo . We are a good side and we have never had this many points at this stage of any season. When we get it right we’re excellent when we don’t we can usually grind out a result.
Presume you're talking about my comment...
I don't expect us to play our best games every week. But if we play football that is dreadful to watch, I'll say it. I call a square a square.
Tonight was dreadful to watch. I'm happy with the win. The goal was great. But the overall standard was poor. No passing, no pattern of play, no chances created really until the end.
Stoke was dreadful to watch. QPR was dreadful to watch. Darby was dreadful to watch. Millwall was dreadful to watch. Preston was dreadful to watch.
We barely created chances in those games either. We won against QPR because their keeper threw one in his own net. Otherwise we drew or lost all of them.
"Without playing well in some matches we are grinding out results"
Yes we are and that's the exact point I was making...
While we grind out results people will 'forget' how bad the game is... Because the result is paramount...
But if we stop being able to grind those results out, people will quickly to get fed up of this style of play. They can put up with unattractive football if we're winning.
We desperately need to replace Pereira and get a proper striker in January if we're to mount a serious title attempt. Because we simply don't have enough goals in us. We lack both a creator and finisher. There are not enough 'soft' teams in these league for us to steamroll like we did Sheffield United.
