This was one of those games were you can actually say we were lucky to get a point, bailed out several times by Iversen who was excellent all night against an impressive Stoke side
For 35 minutes we were chasing shadows, one down early on when Powell found space between Bauer and Cunningham to head home we were up against it.
Smith fired one in from 20 yards touched away by teh giat hand of the Dane between the sticks seemed it was only a matter of time until they added a second. That should have come when our defence melted away and Powell was lift with the simple task of side footing past Iversen from about 10 yards this time Iversen's left hand pushed it wide of the post.
At teh time thought they might come to regret that miss and so it proved, slowly got a toe hold in the game and when Earl was brought down on the edge of the box. Whiteman over the wall past Davies level probably the only way we were going to score all night.
Second half was more even with Cunningham beating Davies with an effort from distance sadly he whistled the wrong side of the post.
We had momentum until we made two substitutions half way through the half taking off Maguire being baffling as he was causing the giants at the back problems.
Stoke back in charge should really have taken the lead when Tymon seemed to have a simple tap in from close range but denied again by another fine save by Iversen. We rode our luck in the latter stages with some good defending and escaped with a point.
Stoke best side we have played this season given they were missing Chester, Fletcher and Allen suggests they have depth of squad to go close this season and Friday night's game against the Albion should be one to watch.

Preston North End manager Frankie McAvoy told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"I felt Stoke first half caused us lots of issues if I'm being brutally honest, I felt they were the dominant team and it took us a bit of time to get the press right against their 3-4-3.
"I was delighted with Ben's strike to make it 1-1, but Daniel made a fantastic save before that to keep us in the game.
"I felt we started well in the second half, but I would say they're probably the best team that we've played, the team that has caused us the most issues in the games that we've played in the league.
"Over the piece, this is probably one of the games where I felt we were delighted with the point to be honest."
Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill told BBC Radio Stoke:
"It's a point gained when you're away from home, but it does feel like two lost because I felt we were the dominant team for the majority of the game.
"For the first 35 minutes I thought we were brilliant. We should have been more than two ahead and then we concede off the free-kick, it's an excellent free-kick.
"But I thought second half our reaction was good because we controlled the game again, had chances, but just couldn't take the chances, and on the balance of play there was really only one team that was going to win it."
