So what do we make of that then? First pre season game I've watched and not impressed at all. There doesn't seem to be any improvement on the dross we were served up in the second half of last season.

One thing that has improved, though he did look quite good on the few occasions he came on before, is Sorba Thomas. He was the one outstanding player in the team tonight. He seems to be the designated set piece taker now and of all the corners we had, well into double figures, he got them all into dangerous positions. None of the usual hitting the first defender or being so bad that we get hit on the break. Shame none of our attackers got a head to any of them first.

Didn't see much of Nicholls after he came on, but I think he will be the first choice come the start of the season. Schofield's distribution was woeful again and his fannying about with goal kicks is getting tedious.

Good to see Pipa back, but is he fit for a full 90 yet? Maybe give him an hour against Wendy on Sunday. Sarr and Crichlow were still playing the square ball and back to the keeper too often. Thankfully young Levi and Pearson looked to be more positive when they came on.

Koroma looked like he was trying too hard and got nowhere, but we all know what he's capable of. Jordan didn't see the ball for the first half hour but then decided to get involved rather than waiting for a pass that was never coming.

Midfield looked much better when Hogg, High, Holmes and H'Obrien came on. I like Diarra from what I've seen, but he's not ready yet. Could do with a good loan this season. Same with Austerfield. Brown has been and done his loans. If he doesn't break through now, he never will.
