If we ignore the 'former player' scenario as they are mainly unproven and higher risk the only credible alternative mentioned at the moment is Chris Wilder.
Chris Wilder is available, he is younger and shows loyalty to his employer and so could be expected to build a team that could be the body West Brom for many years. Add to that he has just as much Championship and Premier League credentials as SA.
If I had a straight choice between SA or CW I think I would sign CW up on a 3 year contract and thank BS for his endeavours - but if CW was not prepared to sign a long term contract I would stick with BS.
