I'll keep my comment short so I don't repeat myself.
He should be thanked for his hard work and effort and then a parting of ways should occur. Relegation means a failure on his part and, regardless of the slow but steady improvement that we have seen and the poor squad that he inherited, that shouldn't be forgiven with a season in the Championship for him.
