I have seen it mentioned twice once when it was relating to why Lai could not pay back the money he owes the club, the other in an article related to why he could not personally spend any money on the club.  Certainly has not stopped other Chinese owners of English clubs.

 This would make sense for him to not Lai, as it wouldn't make sense for him to put in more money to lose more money on a team in trouble. It'll be like being slapped in the face by a wet Wohun kipper or similar.

Maybe BBB, alternatively if he had paid off the loan, we might have brought in the player who saved us.    

 I agree Salop that would have been great, how Lai and Wohun was meant to be a joke = like he is.
