It was an afternoon appeal - not a chance in hell of winning.
If you're on in the morning there's a bit more of a chance, but they only let 2 or 3 appeals though each day they have them. By the time they've had their lunch and (ahem) beverages to wash it down all they want to do is get home for a nap and not make the ref's look too silly.
No great hard evidence for my opinion but the only one's I've ever noticed were agreed to in part or full were morning appeals. If they agreed to every one, despite merit, previous similar, blah, blah, blah they would basically be admitting the ref's were not good enough and they would then have to train them better. Like that's gonna happen.
