The point of the season where every fan of every team still in it can dream they have as much chance of winning The Cup as any Prima Donna League Club.
Of course, it rarely, if ever works out like that., but this weekend, we can all dream - or get pissed and fantasize for 90 minutes, plus injury time, and penalties, if needed as there are no replays (again) this season.
Win half a dozen games and there you are there, at Wemberlee, (well, even less these days maybe when including the semi's).
A couple more games if your from Plymouth, but they've already won at least two more Cup games than us this season to get this far, so let's not get too cocky.

Stood under the Arch, dreaming of not getting hammered by Man City or losing to Wigan. As if that could ever happen?  Whistle
Not as romantic for some these days as a visit to the crumbling old Twin Towers or paddling through an inch deep lake of piss when you went to the loo, but there you go. Some folk just don't like progress.  Whistle

Or the price of the pies and the beer at the New Wemberlee come to that.

Not been a good week for football fans has it?

First there was Gerry Marsden, who took a song from a 50's musical and turned into the football fans anthem. The Red Scousers might like to think it's theirs as they play it afore every match, but what fan of a certain, or any age come to that, hasn't stood there, in the Cowshed, on The Terrace or your old or recent equivalent, and don't forget every away ground you ever went to, scarf aloft and belted "You'll Never Walk Alone" out, in the glorious harmony that several thousand, or even a couple of dozen, off-key, drunk football fans can only churn out in what sound like perfect, musical harmony?

Then there was the death of Colin Bell. The original box-box midfielder who as one of his former team mates said, "he could play in any position in training and play better then the player who's position he was playing in". So what if he was a Blue Manc playing in the era of Big Frank,  and many more of our former heroes? We can applaud players that were class, no matter who they played for surely?

He also played for England and surely deserved more than the 48 caps he got. In an era of midfielders marked by bruised and bloodied shins from the likes of Chopper Harris, Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter and our own Chopper McGill, as "defensive" midfielders, he was always seen a the polar opposite. An attacking midfielder that could float across the mud of a typical English football field and score a first time volleyed goal from anywhere in and around the box. I don't doubt he left as many bruises on shins as he received from many of the above and more, but that wasn't the image that came across. A debilitating knee injury ended his career prematurely, after being fouled in a Mancland derby at the age of 29. Out of the game for 18 months he played a few more matches but was never the player he was before.

Kick-off 18:00

So the Prima Donna League Memorial Floodlight Bulbs will be switched on, yet again.
Some bright spark insisted we need them.
It will be dark otherwise.

On the tellybox
For you home based Townfans, this game has been moved to 18:00 to maximise the FA's income and to flog you a new App for your mobile. It's might be free for now, but there's no such thing as a free lunch. They'll either be tracking and tracing you far better than the shit app the government says is NHS, when it isn't at all, or pestering the shit out of you with adverts, pop-ups and emails you didn't think you' asked for but now can't find out how to turn them off for a few months. Either way, they'll use your info to the max of their benefit, and not yours. Sign up now folks, it's a game you can't afford to miss.  Thumb up  Tongue

At this time of night, its likely on a foreign tellybox channel somewhere too.
Oh, it is - fill your boots foreign footyball watchers Thumb up

If you can be arsed to pay PPV prices for a run of the mill 3rd Round FA Cup match that is.
Otherwise check out your fave free dodgy interweb sites and hope your AV works as paid for (or not) and the feed lasts until the end of the game without dumping an evil Corruptovirus onto your hard drive or phone.

Latest news
As reported elsewhere (chee-yars Snoots, ya canny bugga-man), we've signed a new playa.
Arl the way man, why the f*ck ay, from Kingston Jamaica, ya knar like bonny lad, via Noo KKKastle Yoo-neeted please welcome, well known Geordie and less well known cartoon character, Rolando (el Rat) Aaraons.

Out Injured/Suspended/Back training but not oven ready
Rolando likely won't be fit until Easter, so don't get too excited. The new fella from Ireland? - probably similar.

Back in the frame
Terry Gray and Andy Booth have more chance of a game than some of our long-term injured. Possibly more chance of scoring than some of our current fit-to-play forwards too.

Last time out
Town won, er no, we lost 1-2 after a scintillating first 6 minute spell against Reading.

The last time we played in the FA Cup we also came 2nd, but apart from the team that wins it, who doesn't? It's just a matter of how many times you delude yourself with wins before you eventually lose. That, apparently is part of the magic of the Cup. Whoever we lost to I'm pretty sure went on to win bugger all that mattered.

Plymouth beat Gillingham 1:0 at home last weekend in the League,
[Image: 0BXy5Tn.jpg]

but in the Cup they've beaten Chorlton and the Wheelies at The Valley and The Imps at home to get this far. So, not to be trifled with, or even sneered at over a game of bowls on the Hoe by our Spanish Armada based coaching team.

The last time we won this thing it was 1922 - somehow, I don't see us winning it this year either - or in 2022 as much as it would be nice, but dafter things happen at sea, just ask Drakey boy and I've been wrong before. That nice Mr. Coral won't be getting any holiday money from me on that one though.

Tables
League Tables like League Form mean sweet FA in the FA Cup, but it's a long-term habit and I'm not going cold turkey this close to Christmas.

(Why does that sound familiar? Huh )

Roller coaster
Come on chaps, snap out of it - next weekend, not this one.
Looks remarkably similar to our first go at the Prima Donna League to be honest.

Innies and Outies
Hey big spender .....
why would they???

Who's banging 'em in
Jephcott - or Jephcott, by the look of it.

Local music
For a town by the sea with all the sea shanty stuff and navy tradition - there's an absence of much that is musical down on the Hoe.
Top of the divas, sorry divers - Tom Daley - he can get a tune out of a 10 meter diving board, so his husband says  Whistle
Sharon Davies - now she could swim a bit - and distract me a bit too  Whistle Still can - swim that is. Blush

What have they got to do with music? Bugger all just bear with me while I dive a little deeper.

Bastille drummer Chris Wood is a local lad and big Pilgrims fan yay Thumb up

Phillip Schofield - famous for having a gopher's arse on the end of his arm
Trevor Francis - played for Brum before becoming the first £1m pound footballer and then turning into Jasper Carrott.
Angela Rippon - former news reader, showed her pins off on Morecambe and Wise, now whinges for England just after the news on a morning with a bunch of moaning old women,

Try getting a tune out of that lot.

There's some tentative connection to Chris Martin, I think it's the Coldplay one and not the Derby County one, but quite honestly I've lost interest. They seem to have more reality TV unstars than anyone. You'd think there was a load of TV studios down there.

They can't all lose
This weekend it doesn't matter. One or the other of us will be playing one or the other of this lot in the 4th Round, unless Barcelona or Bayern Munich can suddenly get involved. Not happened before, why now?
As you can tell - some games already underway - or done and dusted by now.

We've played 'em before
Been a while though

Next up?
Whoever we draw in the next round, and maybe the round after at the same time, apparently.

Oh? The League? Sod the League.

We're the famous Huddersfield Town and we're going to WEMBERLEE, WEMBERLEE! Laugh
Maybe not.

Pssst - it's Watford away  Tongue

PS - Before you ask - I don't give a sh#t which flavour pasties they eat or whether they put their jam or cream on their scones (not sconns) first. My geographical knowledge of them there parts went south a few threads back in case you didn't notice.

I might not know where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been .....
