Hell, I remember (god knows how after all the beer and wine that's flowed though my brains since) being in a bar in Majorca, donkeys years back. Well, it would be in Spain. Donkeys, Majorca and all that. 
The landlady said Sammy Lee used to come in at the end of the season playing for the Red Scouse, and a few of his mates. Order a crate of San Miguel or whatever they had, sit on the crate at the edge of the dance floor while he drank them and an hour later go next door and do the same thing. Then carry on until he staggered back to his hotel. His mates bought their own. He didn't do rounds apparently.
I take it he's looking after himself a bit better these days.
Google mapped it, not sure of the bar name, probably not there anymore or if it is it's going to be called something else by now, but it was in S'Arenal - I knew the Gunners were involved somewhere.
