What upsets me most about this is the back handed snide way they've got rid of Slav, had they sacked him after Saturday then I'd have been a bit more understanding, but they clearly made their decision then, negotiated with Allardyce and started the ball rolling with contracts, no way has all this been put in place today since the sacking was announced.

The snide bit is that despite last nights performance the decision was already made and no doubt the owners, the board & Allardyce WANTED us to get well and truly thumped at Man City to vindicate the todays need for change. For all the effort, hard work and battling that we did it didn't make a jot of difference. What would have happened if we'd sneaked it 2-1 last night?

Allardyce and these owners and board are well suited, none of them has a scruple or ounce of decency between them. Whatever mistakes Slav made he didn't deserve to go on the back of last night, the timing of this is all wrong.

I'll always support the Albion, no matter what !! and whoever is in charge even Allardyce, he's hardly come for the love of the club has he?. I won't slate anyone else's opinion but find it staggering that anyone could actually want him as first choice anywhere near our club.

Slav made some monumental cock ups with selections and tactics but his biggest one was getting us up in his first year instead of with a 2 year plan to do that, we'd have been better missing out last year. The problems with the club stem from the people running it and in my opinion again appointing Allardyce is all I'd expect from them. He can keep us up but it won't make me like him and the shorter time he's here the better.

Funny how we all have different opinions about the game. The same way you are staggered that anyone would want Allardyce near the club, I'm staggered that anyone wouldn't want him! He's had some monumental achievements without any failures. That CV is unrivalled for the task at hand. This guy left Bolton 5th in the Premier League in the only job he's had a decent run at! Every other job he's done the task given to him, which is typically keeping a sh*t side in the league. Look at the fate of Sunderland and Blackburn after he left. Blackburn were an established mid table side before he left!

I do agree the board's timing was poor and Bilic should've gone after the Palace debacle or at least after he failed to repair the damage at Newcastle. My only logic for him staying on for the City game is that all of his coaching team were going as well, so there would've been nobody to take charge of the game. I doubt the board needed us to get hammed by City to justify it, the performances prior to that more than justified it and that dates back to last season. Although the fact that we managed a draw - fortunate or not - puts more pressure on big Sam to hit the ground running. If anything, it's worked against him.

I'm happy with the way the club has made a fast paced appointment for once. While it might be snide, that's the reality of the cold harsh multi-million pound industry that is professional football. Managers like Slav know exactly what they are getting into and they are quick to walk if the roles are reversed and a big club come sniffing for them. Loyalty doesn't exist either way. However, his contract is binding so he will now be sat at home on full pay, so don't feel too sorry for him. To be honest, I guess our opinions are polar opposite because I detest the dilly dallying that we have come to expect with us when we sack a manager and spend weeks huffing and puffing. This rapid response is, for once, professional. Harsh on the likeable Slav, but professional.

And it certainly wasn't the appointment I expected from our board. I expected some cheap, lower league option who had never managed in the Premier League before who would take months to adapt. The board have obviously woken up to the fact that we need to stay up in order to sell. If big Sam keeps us up and the result is that we get a new owner who can actually find his wallet, we might all be calling this a masterstoke by Dowling. Maybe then we will actually be able to get a younger manager and back him. At 66, I doubt big Sam is a long term appointment. If Dowling is clued up, it will be a quick fix.

And I'm not really arsed that Allardyce is a Wolves fan. He cares about his own reputation first and foremost, like we all do. It will be another feather in his cap keeping us up.
