Just got back from Turkey today and to be honest I'm surprised Bilic is still in a job...
I found a bar in Cappadocia to watch the game and I really wish I hadn't been able to. We have had some woeful performances this season, but that took the cake.
Just can't get my head around the selection. Robbo came on and changed the game against Brighton, so for me he was a nailed on starter. Yet Bilic picks the same XI that were absolutely shocking first half vs Brighton.
We might as well revert to something similar to Pulisball (not so defensive, but at least have more aerial threat), because it's not like this bunch of spineless tossers are even entertaining us is it?
We never look like we're going to score a goal TBH.
I'd bring in Austin, move Grant to the wing, push Ajayi into midfield and bring in Kipre or Bartley (Should've been Hegazi). I'd also put O'Shea in at right back and Robbo at right midfield.
Drop Grady, drop Pereira, drop Krov or Livermore.
Then every free kick or corner, I'd throw it straight into the box and let the opposition defend against all of those aerial threats. I'd stop tip tapping around with short corners and Pereira and Krovi playing together like a pair of under 14's in the garden and start playing professional football. Start trying to grind out some results to stay in this league.
I said it before and I'll say it again. Villa stayed up last year because after lockdown Smith reverted to grinding results out. Then after staying up, they have added a bit of flair. That's what we need to do. This team wasn't even good enough to win games in the Championship after lockdown so why it is being persisted with at this level is beyond me. Slav proves week in week out to be tactically inept and blind to the fact we are a soft touch.
I really do want him to prove me wrong, but every passing week is a week closer to the lowest points tally in Premier League history. With Bilic's selections, I'm convinced we will not win a game.
