I spent the time writing the daily Bible reflection I do for our parishes. Found a prayer to finish with which describes God as our defender and keeper. Now, THAT would improve the team.

Phillippians 3:13; "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal."  Seriously, the tactical advice in there puts Dave Bassett's Big Book of Soccer Techniques to shame.

Ah, Paul had learned a lot by the time he wrote to the Philippians. Tragically in Acts 13:3 we hear that both Paul and Barnabas were sent off. The Kieran and Slaven of their day.
