BV, that admission could get you ‘cancelled’ today! I can’t admit to my favorite teddy bear as a very young child but a certain brand of jam would provide a clue.

Zinman the bears, as you refer to them only appeared in one Noddy book. Noddy book number 7, purple cover, I remember it well, as it scared the life out me, 50 odd years ago. In a strange way it proves the another point you sort of refer to though. People say those 'bears' do not create a negative stereotype, they are just toys. In that book, Noddy was driving through the woods, when he was ambushed, beaten up, had his hat and his car stolen by those 'bears'. You would not see Winnie or Paddington being portrayed getting involved in such anti-social behaviour as mugging good wholesome white toys.
