Me and my brother had dozens of (little plastic) cowboys, indians, soldiers, farm animals, etc.
We'd play cricket sat on the carpet with them (Animals v Men) using a Subuteo ball with matches for the stumps; and the batsman (eg me holding a horse) would attempt to score boundaries (ie hitting the settee or the walls) off my brother's underarm delivery from about 5ft away. We even registered the scores in a Cricket Scorebook which included the bowlers' stats. (They all had their individual bowling actions - fast, leg spin, etc).
(I think) it was 5-aside, so we'd position the 4 fielders tactically. If the batsman hit the ball but it hit a fielder (eg a cowboy) he was out 'caught'. If a batsman (eg me with my little zebra) consistently used his hand too much he was given a warning...or he'd be 'Out'.
Quite sad, eh?
